Deep Stimulation of Natural Fracture Networks
Certain types of naturally fractured carbonate formations may benefit from an Arcasolve™ treatment to increase the production rate of the wells
The concept of this treatment is that the Arcasolve™ fluid will penetrate much further than conventional acids into a formation and increase the conductivity of the fractures.

Conventional acidizing does
not achieve significant penetration into the natural fractures in a
carbonate formation to give deep stimulation of the natural fractures.

Arcasolve™ fluid can be placed deep in the natural fracture
network before acid is generated. The acid is not spent near the point
of introduction as the fluid is placed.

Once in place the Arcasolve™ fluid produces sufficient acid deep enough in to the natural fracture network to increase the fracture conductivity and achieves a deep stimulation. |
A recent reservoir classification system distinguishes between fractured reservoirs based on the relationship between the fracture properties and the matrix properties, especially porosity and permeability (see SPE 84590. Control on recovery factor in fractured reservoirs. Available from www.spe.org). This paper also highlights the importance of the reservoir production strategy in relation to reservoir properties. This is an important factor to consider when designing Arcasolve™ treatments for deep stimulation of natural fracture networks.
