Company Profile and History

Cleansorb is a privately owned biotechnology company founded in 1994 by Dr. Ralph Harris and Dr. Ian McKay who have complementary backgrounds in industrial microbiology and biochemistry (biotechnology). The company was established to progress their award winning ideas on novel products and technologies for the upstream oil and gas industry based on the use of enzymes, catalysts and novel materials.

The company develops, patents and commercialises novel products and processes.  These technologies are used to assist upstream oil and gas production operations world-wide.

Cleansorb's Arcasolve family of downhole acidizing fluids offers unique advantages arising from the fact that acid is generated in-situ after the treatment fluid is placed.  Excellent zonal coverage can be achieved.  Polymer breakers can be incorporated into Arcasolve formulations to allow a dual attack on carbonate-polymer containing filter cakes.   Arcasolve is particularly suited to the cleanup of filter cake in long openhole wells. Arcasolve is used by independent, state and major international operating companies in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Cleansorb has built its success on excellent products, which are supported by extensive scientific and technical know-how, applications expertise and the substantial accumulated experience of its oilfield engineers and related industry associates.

As each situation requires, Cleansorb works either directly with oil and gas operating companies or through our sales and marketing partners, including agents, distributors and licensees.

The company has been based in Guildford, U.K. since 2000.    It continues to develop and expand its patented technology base.

New products resulting from our development projects are scheduled to reach the market during 2007-2009.  Cleansorb is also willing to consider collaboration with suitable partners on new projects.
