Scale Inhibitor Deposition - Precipitation Squeezes

1 Enzyme Based PrecipitationPrecipitation squeezes are a recognised method for depositing scale inhibitor in formations and offer longer intervals between treatments and less down-time compared to adsorption squeezes.

Technically, formulations which give a homogeneous precipitation of scale inhibitor from solution are preferred.  Current commercially available systems have a minimum operating temperature of about 90° C.  There is a need for systems that can produce homogeneous precipitation of scale inhibitor from solution at lower formation temperatures within a reasonable time scale.

Cleansorb has developed enzyme-based processes for achieving the homogeneous deposition of a number of commercial scale inhibitor chemicals in formations with bottom hole temperatures in the range of 20 to 80° C.  The technology will enable treated wells to be kept on production for longer periods, compared to conventional scale inhibitor treatments, before repeat treatments are necessary.  The reduction in the frequency of treatments and production downtime will provide savings to operators.

Cleansorb is looking to work with operating companies and/or scale control companies to conduct field trials and commercialise the technology.  For further details  please contact Cleansorb Ltd.
