Positive laboratory test results published for new low temperature acidizing system

Two papers describing the results of laboratory tests conducted with DEEPA in-situ acidizing formulations at low temperature have now been published. The work was conducted by researchers at Perm National Research Polytechnic University (PNRPU), Russia.
One application of DEEPA treatment formulations is to deliver organic acid deep into fracture networks which intersect the wellbore, to improve their conductivity and connectivity.

DEEPA treatments of porous fissured dolomites resulted in increased fracture opening and volumes. Permeability was increased by a factor of 1.5 – 2.8. DEEPA treatment of aleurolites increased the porosity by a factor of 4 – 9.

The new acidizing treatment process was developed by Cleansorb specifically for use in low temperature formations (around 30°C or lower) although it also has applications at higher temperatures. The process is the subject of international patent applications.
Paper abstracts in English are available here (link to be inserted once updated news report added to website). One paper, in the Bulletin of PNRPU, Geology. Oil & Gas Engineering & Mining, is available (in Russian) as a PDF download. The second paper was published in Oil Industry Journal. An update will be provided when full English versions are made available.
