Deep acid treatment of the carbonate deposit matrix using the DEEPA acid-generating compound assumes uniform increase in permeability within a radius of 3-6 m around the borehole of the producing or injection well. This type of bed stimulation is ideal when the well injectivity or productivity is low due to the low permeability of the rock matrix. Acid is formed directly in the reservoir providing excellent uniform acidizing throughout the area and increasing porosity and permeability of the rock. The study contains the results of laboratory tests related to the effects of the DEEPA acid-generating compound (Cleansorb Ltd, UK) on the core of productive sediments located at Kuyumbinsky block.

A distinctive feature of acid is its impact on the network of natural fractures in carbonate reservoirs. The purpose of the treatment is the DEEPA acid penetration into the network of natural fractures intersecting the borehole, to improve their conductivity and connectivity. The DEEPA effects on porous-fissured dolomites included an increased fracture opening and volume, higher porosity; samples permeability increased by a factor of 1.5 – 2.8. Porosity of porous aleurolites increased by a factor of 4 – 9.
